Photonic Switching Subsystems Manufacturer, OMM, Names Randall Sutherland Director of Public Relations.

Former Cisco PR Executive to Oversee OMM Corporate Communications

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ --

OMM Inc., a global supplier of photonic switching subsystems to communications equipment manufacturers, today announced that Randall P. Sutherland, 44, has joined the Company as Director of Public Relations. Sutherland, a 17-year industry veteran will lead corporate communications for the Company.

"When I learned more about OMM's lead in MEMS-based photonic switching solutions, I did not hesitate to come and join the company," he said, "I want to do my part to make the optical Internet go faster."

Prior to joining OMM, Sutherland was senior manager of industry analyst relations at Cisco Systems, Inc., where his program was voted the best in the industry, according to the Kensington Group's analyst relations effectiveness benchmark study for network/telecom vendors. Sutherland was the second PR professional ever hired by Cisco and during his nine years there held several public relations positions at the corporate and business unit level.

Prior to Cisco, Sutherland managed industry analyst relations for Oracle. He was also a senior industry analyst at Dataquest and managing editor of Dr. Dobb's Journal of Software Tools. He has a Master's Degree in English from the California State University at San Diego.
