Fed: Federal government can t guarantee financial aid to farmers

The NSW Farmers Association says dozens of struggling New South Wales chicken farmers
are surviving on charity food parcels, but the federal government says it cannot guarantee
financial aid.

The association claims half of the Mangrove Mountain poultry industry, on the state's
central coast, remains at risk following last year's devastating Newcastle disease outbreak.

The disease resulted in the slaughter of two million birds.
