SA: Poll shows Downer in danger of losing seat
A new poll says Foreign Affairs Minister ALEXANDER DOWNER is in danger of losing his
seat at the next election.
The poll for Adelaide's Advertiser newspaper shows Mr DOWNER has primary support of
just 31 per cent in his Adelaide hills seat of Mayo.
That's down more than 14 points from the last election.
Labor's primary vote is 25 per cent, with the Democrats on 18 per cent.
The poll says if Labor won the preferences in a two-party split, they would take the
seat with over 51 per cent.
It says that if the Democrats beat Labor on the primary vote they would win in a landslide
on preferences, if the last election's trend is repeated.
The poll also shows only 58 per cent of those who voted Liberal at the last election
say they will do so again.
